How to Stop a Panic Attack

Have you just about had it with panic attacks?  Would you like to know how to stop them?  I used to fear having panic attacks from the first moment I woke up.  My anxiety was out of control and I would sweat uncontrollably and my heart would race.  Was I having a heart attack?  I would even lose the feeling in my extremities.

Now, I am thankfully free from panic attacks.  I’ve found these tips to help end anxiety attacks:

These are a few fist steps.  If you can master these, you’ll be able to stop a panic attack.

Breathing — Get control over your breath and you will soon be able to stop a panic attack in it’s tracks.  Controlling your breath is key to dialing down your panic attacks.  Controlled breathing is key to mastering your panic attacks.  Using breathing you can calm yourself in as little as five minutes.  Negative thoughts begin to flood your mind during a panic attack.  Regain focus by taking slow breaths in through your nose and out your mouth.  Panic attacks tend to originate with breathing, so that’s where you must go to stop them.

Stretching — Stretching will relieve some of the stress that can build up to a panic attack.  Stretching can help your body relax.  The benefits will spill over into your mental attitude as well.  Once you’re more relaxed, new things won’t push you over the edge as easily.  Regular stretching will reduce a panic attack by 90%.  Stretching is a good way to keep in control of your body when you start to feel a panic attack coming on.

Gratitude — When you approach life with a positive mental attitude, you’ll find that panic attacks simply just don’t happen any more.  Start each day by making a list of what you are grateful for.  Even if you’re thankful for something as basic as being able to see or read.  No matter what is happening in your life, there is always something to be thankful for.  This will begin to condition your brain to focusing on the brighter side of things.  When you start to change your focus in life, you’ll find that the panic attacks just fall away.
