I failed at being my own Dentist
No one should have to be their own dentist or be without any dental insurance benefits . I’m 52 years of age and this is my dental horror story. Two years ago I had an abcess tooth. I had no insurance and no job. I was also living in pain. I began to have head aches and the infection had spread from my mouth to my right eye. My entire lower jaw area was very swollen. After a while I gave in and called the dental office for an appointment.
They told me I had to have $240.00 up front before they would see me. This was just to have a tooth pulled. I was in agonizing pian and was not sure if I could wait the 5 days to see the Dentist. I did’nt even have the funds for the dental procedure, no credit cards and it was the middle of the month. So I sat there and cried in pain. I decided I was talented enough to pull my own tooth. Well you’ve heard of the tie a string to the door knob trick! Yes it had gotten that bad. When I went to give it a tug a sharp pain went up the side of my face, so bad that I thought I would pass out. So I cried some more. I took time for a moment of silent prayer. All of a sudden I could feel the tooth sliding out. At that point it came out without any pain. I did not realize that I could have died from so much infection.
The Good Lord saved me that day so I may tell other people like me that you really don’t need to be your own dentist. That job should be left to the pros. Now I have my Ameriplan Dental Plan and I can actually see a real pro now. Thank you, Ameriplan.
